....................

6.29.2010 // On Tuesday morning, as we were getting dressed for work, Chance casually mentioned that maybe we could go to our favorite sushi place for dinner. We hadn't been since we moved from Silver Spring to Bethesda so I didn't think much of it. As we headed to work, I realized that I had left my phone at home. "You can turn around now or we can come back during lunch and get it," Chance suggested. "Nah! I don't need it."

Sushi Sono is one of a hidden cluster of restaurants overlooking a lake across the street from Colombia Mall. After work, we headed towards the restaurant and Chance suggested stopping by H-mart on the way back. (All of the Asian markets are out of the way from our normal routine so we don't go as often as we used to).

We got to Sushi Sono and ordered our usual: chirashi sushi, a rainbow roll, and a spicy, crunchy tuna roll. Chance opted for a large Asahi instead of the usual small saki. Dinner was thoroughly delicious and entertaining as the waitress somehow turned into our surrogate mother, jokingly nagging us to finish our plates and share our food.

After dinner, Chance said, "Let's walk around the lake." "Ok..." I said, as the suspicions set in. We've gone to Sushi Sono dozens of times and we've never walked around. My feet were already blistered on four toes but I thought I'd suck it up to avoid ruining any potential plans that Chance might have. (I did "remind" him about them a few times though.) "I just want to see that bridge over there." We walked to the other side of the lake, passing groups of teens, families and pet walkers. Two guys and their dog were standing at the bridge when we finally got there. We looked around and chance said "Ok, lets go back." Suspicions dropped.

Half way back, chance swung me around and asked, "Do you love me?"
"Yes."
"What would you say if I said I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you?"
"What?"
The moment became surreal as he got down on one knee and popped the question: "Will you marry me?"
